Board of Directors

The global Board of Directors of Nuevos Amigos serves to define and protect the mission of Nuevos Amigos. They also help guide the adoption of new policy and ensure that all corporate activities are aligned with the strategic ministry objectives. As part of the Board’s role, they review and approve items such as annual budget proposals, new country ministry opportunities, and building projects.

Jim & Tony Kay Schutz

Jim & Tony Kay have been married for 30 thirty years. In 2007 they heard a call from God to “get rid of their stuff and be available.”  Jim left a 30-year career in operations management. After home-educating their sons, Tony Kay was just beginning a career in IT management and looking forward to being grandma; she has a degree in Non-profit Business Management. Their story is one of learning immediate obedience and growing faith. They oversee two projects, Nuevos Amigos in Ecuador and Esperanza de Ana in Peru. Tony Kay & Jim focus on discipling the staff at both projects, strengthening families, and transforming the lives of children. They live on-site at the project in Perú.

Byron Sáenz

Byron is married to Ritha Rosero and they  have a 21 year old daughter named is Marna. He has been a christian for 33 years. He and he wife serve in the church; currently ministering to the senior adults. Byron works as an accountant specializing in nonprofit organizations. Byron loves to laugh and brings joy to his friends and family.

Mónica Ortuño

Monica is wife and mother. During her first years of  her life she searched for the truth, but the truth found her. Since then she lives amazed and joyful; listening to the sound of the gentle blowing of Christ’s voice and walking through the darkness with the light of her savior, the Lord Jesus. As a hobby she has a radio program bringing a christian worldview to the arts. She teaches english to the staff at Nuevos Amigos and disciples them along the way.

Ricardo Maila

Ricardo and his wife Maria have been married for  25 years. They have four sons. Ricardo helped to found Nuevos Amigos and has served in various roles in the foundation. He is currently on the board of directors and is the Administrator for the foundation and the school. His has a passion for the people of the community and the heart of a pastor. His love for the children he serves is a light of Christ. In his free time he likes to play soccer. He is anxiously awaiting becoming a grandfather.

Jess Adkins

Jess has been an ordained Pastor since 1983 and on staff at RiverTree Christian Church since 2007. He enjoys working in various ministries and with children, students and adults. Jess has a Bachelors Degree Christian Ministries (Cincinnati Christian University) and Masters Degree in Theology. (Cincinnati Christian Seminary). Over the past 30 years, he have served on many governing boards (churches & mission organizations) & led teams for multiple special conferences & festivals of non-profit organizations. He and his wife, Lorie, of 30 years, have one son and one daughter.

Gary Dolan

Gary is an elder and pastor at RiverTree Christian Church and has been on staff  since 2000.  His background before ministry was in business for more than 25 years.  Gary has earned Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration as well as Masters Level theological training at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has served on more than 15 governing boards of non-profit organizations including churches ranging in size from 50 to 5,000, including  homeless shelters, private schools, and an international orphanage and preschool.  He also leads governance training retreats for other organizations each year. Gary has been married for 44 years to his wife, Pam. They have one daughter, one son and seven grandchildren.

The Bridge Team is the Unites States arm of Nuevos Amigos.The Bridge Team’s mission/vision is :

  • To assist, promote and advocate for the mission of Nuevos Amigos Foundation for the glory of God.
  • To support onsite leadership through prayer and actions keeping with God’s will.
  • To develop and facilitate an environment enabling short-term international learning experiences and trips
  • To develop and facilitate mutual blessings through long-term relational partnerships in Christ.
